July 16th has been declared Armed Forces Day at Ukiah Speedway. Anderson Logging Company and Ukiah Speedway have joined forces to honor members of all branches of the Armed Forces and First Responders with a free night of racing with valid ID. Grandstand entry for spectators five and up will be just $5.
It will be an exciting night of racing with the Taco Bell Bombers, Jammers, Jalopies, PCS Late Models, and Pro 4 Modifieds. An amazing night of racing with two professional divisions on one track for just $5! The gates will open at 3:30pm, qualifying starts at 5PM.
Racing Promoter David Furia states, “Every person who enjoys the freedoms that we have in this country owes a debt to the men and women who have served in our Nation’s Military. With the help of Anderson Logging Company, we are pleased to pay a tribute to the ones who fought for our freedom.” Furia adds “We are also honored to recognize those who keep put their lives on the line every day protecting us. We appreciate the service of our police, firefighters and emergency personnel. They support our community every day and we owe them a debt of gratitude. We are glad we can have a night of recognition for the Military and First Responders sacrifice and dedication. This night of racing will also feature special guest announcer Justin Briggs. Since he retired from announcing at Ukiah and Lakeport Speedways, Justin has been living in Oregon. He is traveling to Ukiah Speedway this weekend just to announce the races. Justin’s visit is sponsored by Discovery Inn Ukiah.

Fans bared the heat to see their favorite drivers and the fireworks at Lakeport and Ukiah Speedways Independence Weekend.
Saturday at Lakeport Speedway brought out the Taco Bell Bombers, the Modifieds and the Northern California Modified Sprint Cars at the Kelseyville Lumber Deake Lyndall Memorial.
Taco Bell Bomber Driver Erik Ray drove his 77 to victory in his heat race and the main event. Roy Ingals Jr brought the 62JR to victory in his heat race but just couldn’t steal the win from Ray in the main.
Darrin Knight dominated the Modified Class taking the win in both the heat and main event in his number 20.
The Northern California Modified Sprint Cars had 3 action packed races with the 77 of Andrea Sasselli taking the checkered in both her heat and main events. It was a double digit night with the 88 of Denny Burrell winning his heat race.
And of course the highly anticipated fireworks filled the night sky with colorful explosions to make the celebration complete.

Daytona Beach, Florida (January 23, 2014) – Muscle Milk Pickett Racing will be making their debut at the Rolex 24 at Daytona from the 11th spot on the grid when the green flag falls on the 2014 season Saturday afternoon.
No one knew quite what to expect in this year’s first qualifying session of the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship season, but as many had predicted the Daytona Prototypes did out-qualify the P2 cars in the Prototype Class.
The #6 Muscle Milk ORECA/Nissan was the quickest of the P2 cars in class with 10 Daytona Prototypes ahead of them.
German Lucas Luhr, who has a class victory at Daytona International Speedway in 2001 and a couple of second overall finishes, was in charge of qualifying duties for the Muscle Milk team.
After posting a best lap of one minute 41.032 seconds in practice, the six-time American Le Mans Series champion posted a fastest lap of one minute 39.829 seconds in qualifying, which was 1.6 seconds off of pole position.
Despite the gap, the team came out satisfied with the their performance and the improvements they’ve made since the test.
After a night practice session on Thursday, the team will be back in action on Friday, January 24 for a final one-hour practice session ahead of the weekend’s race.
The Rolex 24 at Daytona, the opening round of the TUDOR Championship goes green at 2:10 pm ET on January 25, 2014.
The race will be broadcast live starting January 25 on FOX from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm ET, FOX Sports 2 from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm ET, IMSA.com from 9:00 pm to 7:00 am ET and FOX Sports 1 from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm ET on January 26, 2014.
“It was the first qualifying of the year, the good thing is that we are by quite a bit the fastest of the P2 cars. The thing is that the DPs are just too quick for us at the moment. I think they have to have a second thought on the balance of performance, especially on a high-speed track like we have here and later in the year at Road America.
“In regards to our performance, our car was good. We made a lot of improvements since the test today. We did the best we could, therefore I’m happy with our performance at Muscle Milk Pickett Racing, and in relation to the others, that’s not really in our hands.”

A new series for modifieds is slated for the 2014 season and will be headlined at the Northern California asphalt tracks. The North State Challenge Series Modified Tour, designed for IMCA type modifieds, will include races at Shasta Speedway, Ukiah Speedway and Lakeport Speedway with possible events at Redwood Acres Raceway in Eureka and All American Speedway in Roseville.
The 2014 schedule will be released next month. It will work in conjunction with Lucas Oil and have a similar format, but will not conflict with any of the Lucas Oil modified shows. Plans are to have one “big” show per month The series will be announcing its head-liner sponsor soon. . Along with Lucas Oil, the modified series will also be supported by several associate sponsors as well as contingency sponsors.
Organizer of the series, Jeff Stephens of Sacramento, is a long-time racer and car owner of the Firehouse Racing Team. He has joined forces with 2003 Auto Racing Promoters of the Year Bob and Nadine Strauss and race promoter Blair Aiken to promote the modified tour. The Strauss’ were the promoters at the Lakeport Speedway for 23 years. They brought the first asphalt modified to California in 1990 where Bob raced in this class for 20 years. He along with Aiken will be inspecting the cars at each race, making sure each car meets the rules. Aiken is the past promoter of Ukiah Speedway. He operated this race track for 11 years before taking on the track manager job at Shasta Speedway for the 2013-2014 racing seasons.
