North State Modifieds Invade Ukiah Speedway

(Current points leader Kris Price of Sacramento (#51x) will be competing against 3-time NSMS champion Darrin Knight of Kelseyville (#20) Saturday night when the North State Modified Series invades Ukiah Speedway.)

Ukiah, CA……This Saturday night, June 23, the North State Modified Series, presented by Protect the Harvest, comes to Ukiah Speedway for race #4 of its “2018 Driving Out Cancer Tour.” North State drivers, crews and families have dedicated this season to bringing cancer awareness to the race fans. Saturday will be the only time that the North State Modifieds will compete at Ukiah in 2018.
The NSMS points battle has flip-flopped from last season. This time last year the top five contenders hailed from Lake County. Now the top two, Kris Price and Jason Philpot, come from Sacramento. Price leads the way by 14 points. Kelseyville’s Eric Johnson sits third in points with Dustin DeRosier, Cloverdale, fourth and Darrin Sullivan, Kelseyville, fifth.

Thirty drivers have raced with NSMS in 2018 with an average car count of 19. More local cars are expected to show up for the Ukiah event. Practice will begin on Friday at 4 pm. Qualifying, the Lucas Oil Dash for Cash, and the Protect the Harvest 60 lap main event will be on Saturday.
The North State Modifieds will join the local Bandoleros, Bombers, and Legends Cars. The Nor-Cal Pro-4 mods will also be on the racing cars. For rules, a NSMS schedule, or more information visit www.NorthStateModifieds.com.

Ukiah Speedway Results 7/30/16

Modifieds Racing to the Checkered Flag

The excitement of paved track racing returned once again to Ukiah Speedway Saturday July 30th. Braving high temperatures, the track was active with Taco Bell Bombers, Jammers, Modifieds and the infield with T&T Towing Jalopies.

Jammers Driver Brandi Robertson was the driver to beat. Robertson swept her division for the night taking the win in the both the heat and main races in her number 14. Robertson’s wins moved her up from 6th to 4th in championship points, but Elizabeth Ingals still maintains the first rank with a close lead over second place Gene O’Dell Sr with only 5 points separating them.

Taco Bell Bombers thrilled the fans with an action packed series of races. The 96 of RJ Randall scored twin victories in the A Heat Race and Main Event while B Division driver Brandon Verde crossed the finish line first in the B Division Heat Race scoring another victory and solidifying his points lead for the Taco Bell Bombers B Division. Though A Division driver Bob Mook did not have great finishes, he still maintains a healthy championship points lead in the Taco Bell Bombers A Division.

T&T Towing Jalopies flung some mud and entertained the crowd on the infield. Being an entry level racing division, with less stringent requirements, the drivers are very excited to get out there and show off their skills. Brandon Small took the win in his number 7 for the first Jalopy Heat Race of the night while Wayne Hunt drove his number 1 to the number one position in the second Heat Race. The main event was won by the 707 of Johnny Small in a dusty, mud filled victory.

The Modifieds put on a strong showing with Darrin Sullivan in number 21 taking the win in the Modified heat race but Mike Collins drove number 24 across the finish line first in the Second Heat Race and Main race taking the win in both races. Darrin Knight still holds first position in championship points with 35 points separating him and Mike Collins.
